Chicago’s Hakka Bakka and the famous kati roll

Have you heard of the famous Indian Kati Roll? Recently opened Hakka Bakka wants to introduce Chicago to India’s best-kept secret. This street food style flatbread roll is filled with all kinds of delicious fillings from paneer cheese to spicy chicken tikka or saucy lamb. Yesterday, we became fans.

I stopped by the casual eatery to check out the new menu with a group of Chicago Food Bloggers and packed up a few items to try at home with Nabol. It was so fresh and different from your traditional Indian fair!

We think what makes these kati rolls so good is their base, their freshly made Parathas or flatbread that wraps the whole thing beautifully. Hakka Bakka also gives you the option of layering an egg on top for added flavor, which is always the right option. You can choose from different house made sauces: red tikka, green hariyali and white reshmi. Each one gives you a completely different bite.

If you are a fan of vegetarian options like us, we highly recommend the paneer kati with hariyali chick peas and seasoned fries. It’s so good and pairs great with a mango lassi.

You can also ask for a rice bowl. Just pile high all of your favorites. Add your sauce and protein combination. Whatever you choose, you can mix and match your order online or in store. Hakka Bakka is fast food done right.

If you are ready to try it all, stay tuned to our Instagram page for an awesome giveaway. You’ll have a chance to win a $15 Hakka Bakka gift card! A little something to start the holidays right!
